Plans are underway for a new Hidden Cove Sportsplex which will boast five full sized basketball courts, eight volleyball courts and two soccer fields, not to mention numerous other uses for open space. The 50,000-square-foot addition is anticipated to be open during the first quarter of 2008.

“Overcrowded. That is the word that is used so often when talking about local schools, sport gyms and practice fields. It has been the discussion and will continue to be discussed as long as there are kids around,” said Greg Yates president of Quality Concepts and owner of Hidden Cove. But he added, the new Hidden Cove Sportsplex will resolve those issues.

Hidden Cove currently sits on 37 acres with 12-and-a-half acres dedicated to family fun. An additional three acres was purchased for the new building addition.

Champion Development, consisting of Yates and his son Terry Yates, Blair Minton of Blair Minton and Associates and Jeff Bennett of Heritage Development, have partnered with local developers to form the new complex.

Yates stated, “The vision is to relieve the pressure on local teams and give them a place to practice during the week, hold tournaments on the weekends and give club teams a place to call home.”
